Henson in trouble again

Gavin Henson's future is up in the air after he was suspended by Welsh club the Cardiff Blues following another drink-fuelled incident.

The 30-year-old Wales centre was suspended by the club with immediate effect for throwing ice cubes around the cabin under the influence of alcohol on the side's flight back from Glasgow.

The Blues were humiliated 31-3 on Friday in their Pro 12 match with the Glasgow Warriors in which Henson was a 65th-minute substitute.

The 33-times capped Wales international is on an eight-month contract with Cardiff which expires next month, rendering an extension highly unlikely.

A contrite Henson delivered a statement regarding the latest chapter in controversial career in which he has failed to deliver on his undoubted talent.

"I would like to publicly apologise for drinking on that flight which is inappropriate behaviour. I remain fully focused and committed to Cardiff Blues and I hope they can accept my apology," Henson said.

"I admit I had been out drinking in Glasgow on the Friday night following our game against Glasgow Warriors and had stupidly carried on drinking on the flight, for which I am truly embarrassed.

"I can see that drinking and behaving inappropriately on that flight as a professional sportsman at 7am has caused offence to members of the public, the Flybe Airline staff and passengers."

In 2007 Henson was charged with disorderly conduct after an incident on a train, a charge that was later dropped.

Again in 2010 Henson found himself in hot water for an altercation with two team-mates at a nightclub in France while playing for Toulon.
