Coach John Plumtree has ruled South Africa international Patrick Lambie out of the Sharks' Super Rugby qualifying final against the Reds.

Lambie injured his ankle in the Sharks' final regular-season match against the Cheetahs and Plumtree has confirmed the 21-year-old full-back will not travel to Brisbane next week.

Plumtree also believes forward Pieter-Steph du Toit will miss the match against Queensland on July 21.

"Pat is not looking good and neither is Piet-Steph ... they are the two main concerns for us," Plumtree said on Sunday.

"Pat doesn't look like he'll make it."

Lambie started 12 of the Sharks' 15 regular-season matches this season and scored one try.

The full-back also slotted another 136 points with his boot and will be sorely missed by Plumtree and the rest of the Sharks' set-up.

Plumtree is wary of playing reigning Super Rugby champions Queensland but remains confident his team can cause an upset.

"Everyone says you can't win on the road but we're going to prove everyone wrong," the Sharks coach said.
